Hot salami, hot mortadella, hot capicola
lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, honey mustard and spicy oil
I don’t bother with subway anymore - their sandwiches may be larger but there’s barely any meat, they’re more like salad with dressing sandwiches
Also, I’m pretty sure s ubway used to be better when I was a kid, back when your only choice of bread was white or brown

I fully support this excellent
sammich choice.

I agree except for the condiments.
The correct answer is to get your sandwich from a small pizza / sub / Italian place, and order it with whatever their “normal” toppings are.

The only subs I get anymore are tofu banh mi from Vietnamese joints.
Yesterday I made a basic bitch hummus veggie and Chao sandwich on a Bagel City everything bagel.

T his place only suggests what cheese to go with it, I think this came with provolone. Anyways, this is my standard toppings/condiments combo.
The only pizza joint near my work looks like a shithole (which by itself isn’t necessarily a deterrent for me) but is one of these places that do both greek food and pizza, neither of which is done well (from what I’ve heard from coworkers).
The last true Italian sandwich shop I went to gave me prosciutto & provolone in some bread, with the only option being a home made “hot sauce” which was more like smashed up pickled hot peppers. It was all delicious but they’re a bit out of the way.

Man that’s one hell of a bagel. I don’t think I’ve ever had a vegetarian sandwich but I could get on board with that.
Banh mi is awesome, there used to be a fantastic little shop not too far from me that used to sell these sandwiches for dirt cheap, but they closed up a couple of years ago. The last banh mi I had was in Paris and it was excellent (and also filled with a lot of beef).
I don’t eat tofu often, but I always find it enjoyable when part of Asian cuisines - ma po tofu, Korean tofu stews, the simple Japanese preparation with a bit of scallions and soy (or ponzu, I don’t remember), and so on. I’ve never heard of Chao in my life, though, and I have to admit it’s a very strange sounding concoction.

Quizno’s veggie guacamole sub was really good.

my favs are V. Gonella’s 5+1 in Dearborn (on a soft roll, a hard roll just makes everything squeeze out) and Bommarito’s Sub-buster in St. Clair Shores.

Chao is one of the better non- dairy cheese alternatives. I don’t eat a lot of the stuff, but I had picked some up over the weekend to make Beyond Burger patty melts. It’s a good way to make a veggie sandwich more filling.
There’s a Vietnamese place near me that has $6 banh mi, both meat and tofu. It's pretty decent, I've had better for more money but this is down the street and cheap.
